PUBLISHER'S ADVANCED REVIEW
Many people have lived interesting lives, but not all of them have the ability to translate their memories into absorbing prose. Through his lively powers of recollection, carefully measured and controlled so as to avoid any lapse into sentimental nostalgia, Mr James reanimates his experience through the evocative power of the word.
This is very different to most autobiographies in being modern and upbeat. In dealing with the music business it touches upon a younger subject of interest than many works in this mode. This is complemented by a self-effacing good humour and style and the narrative seems to move along naturally and with its own momentum.
